Masjid Extension Update

  • After raising funds for the roof in Ramadhan 2024, by the Grace of Allah, the roof has now been completed alhamdulillah

  • Other progress:

  • External staircase
  • Guttering around the roof partially completed
  • Windows on the back of the masjid have been fitted
  • Balcony flooring installed and sealed
  • Mihrab has been built

 

We are making a push to finish as much of the 2nd floor as possible this year to allow it to be used by the Al-Hijrah community

In the first stage, the masjid will benefit from the addition of an extra, multi-use 2nd-floor prayer hall, to be used for Jummah Prayers and as a learning and teaching centre, with state-of-the-art classrooms and audio-visual facilities, focussed on sisters and young people. All this will be sheltered under an urgently needed new roof.

During the second stage of the development, we will be completing the roof and cladding to the second floor and erecting the minaret. This minaret will eventually house a lift and adjacent staircase to the new 2nd-floor prayer area and classes. This will provide free-flowing movement to a large volume of worshippers, whilst allowing a modest access route for our sisters.

The final stage of the expansion will involve internal finishing and a complete external facelift to the current building.

What is Gift Aid?

Gift Aid does not cost you a penny more, but can add an additional 25p to every £1 you donate. When Al Hijrah Masjid receives a donation from a UK taxpayer, we're entitled to claim an amount of tax (calculated at the basic rate of income tax in that year) paid on that donation.
